Cyber-crime; it is an area of criminality that continues to grow, with an increase in organisations, both large and small, and the public falling victim. Could you play a vital part in protecting those across the East Midlands from attack?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced individual to join the East Midlands Special Operations Unit’s (EMSOU) Regional Cyber Crime Unit as a Cyber Protect Officer, on a full time, permanent basis.

EMSOU is one of the largest collaborative policing units in the country, delivering specialist capabilities on behalf of the five East Midlands police forces, focusing on the disruption and investigation of serious and organised crime.

In this role, you will maintain personal and organisational knowledge of cyber crime threats and prevention strategies, creating and managing partnerships to develop expertise in cyber security and crime prevention to support the region-wide delivery of the PROTECT and PREPARE strategy. Your role will be key in delivering our proactive and reactive networked resilience to cybercrime risks and threats as part of an established national programme, minimising the risk of harm and reducing crime.

To be successful in this role, you will use your awareness of current and upcoming threats in the cyber and digital arena, understanding threat vectors that enable the opportunity to commit cybercrime. Using your expertise and available intelligence, you will co-ordinate cyber PROTECT and PREPARE activity for the region and support operational activity for the five East Midlands police forces we serve.

At EMSOU, we aim to further develop our cyber capabilities, reducing or eradicating the cyber threats we face as a community. This role is integral to these aims, as you sit on relevant multi-agency forums and deliver exercises to increase stakeholder resilience and preparedness against cyber threats and criminality. Your role will provide advice to both the general public and the public and private sector, identify vulnerabilities and influencing behaviour to increase resilience.

A flexible approach is required to cover meetings and engagements across the region, with continued professional development taking place where and when applicable nationally.

To enable us to truly reflect the communities we serve, we are keen to recruit people from Black, Asian and other minority backgrounds as well as a good mix of genders. You will need a wide range of skills and experiences which will enhance the services we deliver to the public including an understanding of cultural issues. If this is you, we want you to apply to join us.
