Do you have a motor industry qualification equivalent to Level 2 NVQ in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair (Auto Electrical) or equivalent work-based experience?

Do you have a flexible working approach and able to work well within a team environment?

If so, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Vehicle Commissioning Engineer to join the Vehicle Fleet Department within the Transport Unit on a full-time, permanent basis, based at Force Headquarters.

As a Force Senior Vehicle Commissioning Engineer you will be required to design and commission and de-commission police vehicles, including bespoke body conversions and to rectify vehicle body related defects and repair appropriately.

You’ll be a specialist in your area of work and a subject matter expert for emergency vehicle architecture, design, fit and repair. Together with operational teams and suppliers of conversions, you will achieve optimum designs for the front-line use of our fleet vehicles.

As well as relevant work experience or industry qualifications, you’ll have experience of modern vehicle body component fault diagnosis and resultant repairs. You will have previously used specialist emergency equipment and will be able to design, develop and fit a complete conversion of equipment, such as emergency lighting, radio and siren.

You will also be able to complete modern vehicle body component fault diagnosis and repair, as well as having extensive practical experience in sheet metal working, interior vehicle body conversion or general engineering, utilising specialist tools and machinery including welding.

You must also hold a full UK driving licence as road testing of vehicles will be required following repair tasks.

Our police staff work side by side with police officers and make a real difference to people’s lives.

Whether you join us for on-going career development or in a highly rewarding job with good pay and flexible hours to suit your needs, we are confident you will enjoy working in our modern, dynamic and fast-moving organisation where teamwork and co-operation really does count for everything.
