The East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU) is looking to appoint a Forensic Administration Officer on a two-year fixed-term basis, based at the Arrow Centre in Nottingham to provide specialised solutions and capabilities to the East Midlands Special Operations Unit which investigates serious and organised crime within the five forces in the East Midlands region.  (Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire).

What you’ll be doing

  •  Providing administrative support across all areas of the EMSOU-FS units including: Forensic Case Management, Exhibit Handling, Regional Fingerprint Bureau, Imaging, FAS Laboratory, Drug Laboratory and Quality and Performance including but not exclusive to data entry, exhibit handling / tracking, conference room bookings and associated clerical duties as required.
  •  To deal efficiently with telephone and written enquiries as well as e-mails, assisting officers to 
    interrogate the case management system, identifying any of their training needs. Giving guidance 
    with the Forensic results. Redirecting calls to relevant person/department.

The must haves

  • GCSE English at Grade C (now Level 4) or above, or equivalent qualification or experience of producing written reports and correspondence at that level or above.
  • GCSE Maths at Grade C (now Level 4) or above, or equivalent qualification or experience of producing statistical data.
  • Able to demonstrate attention to detail and able to plan and organise time, prioritising work effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skill having the ability to deliver information to a wide variety of audiences utilising a variety of formats.

Salary: - £22,671 - £27,351

As part of the role, there is an out of hours on call element and as such the expectation is that you will live within a reasonable travelling distance of your base station.

For part time hours the salary will be calculated on a pro-rata basis, this is based on the number of hours for the vacancy.
