Here at Leicestershire Police we are inviting applications from talented applicants who currently hold a police driver trainer qualification or have had significant recent experience utilising police advanced driving skills to deliver advanced level police driving courses.

Within the Team Leicestershire Academy Driver Training Unit, we are seeking to recruit three Police driving instructors, based at Leicestershire Police Headquarters.  We have a mixture of permanent full time and part time posts, along with two year fixed term contracts. 

The Driver Training Unit are an integral part of the Team Leicestershire Academy, which is responsible for delivering training excellence to officers and staff across Leicestershire Police. 

As an instructor, you will provide driver training across the Force, including the theory and practice of basic, standard and advanced Driving, as well as delivering other training events, enabling Police Officers and Support Staff to improve their driving abilities.

You will play an integral part in the delivery of standard and advanced level driving courses, including the initial phased pursuit element, which will contribute to an exciting uplift programme of advanced level drivers.

Using a variety of teaching methods, including classroom and practical teaching, you will use your skills in driving assessments and your sound knowledge of Roadcraft and the Highway Code to ensure our teams meet the standards required.

To qualify for this role, you should hold a full Category B Driving Licence and have significant experience utilising the Police Advanced driving authority on a regular basis to instructor level and/or be a currently qualified police driving instructor.

You must be able to undertake travel within the UK to meet the demands of the role and be able to work late shifts as and when necessary to meet the demands of the training syllabus.

You must be able to meet the force eyesight requirement for blue light driving - corrected visual acuity of 6/6 in binocular vision, 6/7.5 in the one eye and 6/12 in the other, vision field of 160 degrees on the horizontal. Also meet the DVLA group 2 medical standards.
