The role involves providing investigative support to the Safeguarding and Investigations departments within the Force and the Crime and Intelligence Directorate.

You will assist investigations by undertaking a wide range of tasks under the direction of supervisors/police officers. This will include interviewing suspects and the completion of crime files of evidence taking statements, CCTV recovery and exhibits.

You will be a good communicator and have the ability to speak to witnesses and attend court if required to give evidence.

A shift pattern of working will be in operation which will involve weekend working in some roles. You must be prepared to be flexible in terms of working location and be prepared to work at different locations within the Force area.

Our ideal candidate

• You must have GCSE English Language Grade C/4 or above or equivalent qualification, or can demonstrate work experience requiring the use of English Language to that level.
• Demonstrate excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
• Be computer literate and be able to demonstrate a methodical approach to work.
• Experience in the production of accurate reports or documents with attention to detail.
• Demonstrate experience in a role requiring the use of investigation skills in dispute/conflict resolution AND/OR
Demonstrate experience in crime related matters or industrial relations AND/OR
Have passed the BTEC diploma in uniformed public services
• Able to work under pressure and to meet deadlines.
• must have a full driving licence and be willing to travel to carry out activities associated with the role throughout the Force Area.
• As a Force resource must be prepared to move location and department as required by the Force.

Desirable skills and experience:

• To have an understanding of data protection legislation when handling information.
• Knowledge of the Criminal Justice process and law.
• Knowledge of custody procedures in relation to prisoner detention and processing.
