Come and join the team at Derbyshire Constabulary as a Trainee Detective Constable for the Crime & Intelligence Directorate!

We are looking to recruit officers who have ideally worked in investigations, but you don’t need to have worked in a crime post. We will offer full training, so no requirement to have sat/passed the National Investigations Exam (NIE). You must have a can do, a positive, inquisitive mindset and adopt a continuous improvement approach. You will also be forward thinking, professional and committed!

Successful applicants must gain PIP2 accreditation, which includes passing the NIE, attendance of a two-week Tier2 Advanced Interviewing Skills Course and 4-week PIP2 Standalone Course, followed by completion of OCP PIP Level 2.

What you'll be doing

This role will involve providing a PIP level 2 investigative response to serious and complex investigations, ensuring successful prosecutions and positive outcomes for victims.

The Must Haves

  • Possess a full driving license.
  • Must have successfully completed the initial probationary period.
  • Must not be subject of any ongoing development / action plan and/or UPP/UAP procedures.
  • Demonstrates competence in crime investigation; specifically in applying an investigative mindset to investigations.
  • Demonstrates competence in crime investigation: specifically in terms of having a ‘victim focused’ approach to investigations.
  • Demonstrates competence in crime investigation: specifically in terms of having successfully worked as part of a team. 
  • Have an understanding of safeguarding procedures. 
  • Please be aware that we are not able to accept applications from officers serving in non-Home Office Forces.

For part time hours the salary will be calculated on a pro-rata basis, this is based on the number of hours for the vacancy.
