Communications Manager

Are you an experienced, creative and innovative Communications Manager? If so, Leicestershire Police would love to hear from you.

This role is at the heart of how we connect with our workforce and all of the diverse communities that make up the City of Leicester, and the Counties of Leicestershire and Rutland.

You will have the experience and knowledge to be our expert on all aspects of change communications, campaigns, marketing and stakeholder engagement. We are therefore looking for someone with significant experience of delivering impact through both internal and external communications.

You will be designing and delivering our internal communications strategy at a time when we are undertaking a significant programme of transformation. Inspiring, motivating and getting our people on board to help them quickly understand the benefits of change for themselves and the people we serve will be critical.

You will also have responsibility for directing, devising and implementing an annual programme of campaigns and marketing activity that reduces crime and protects the public. Securing the safety of our communities is a team effort; you will know how to deliver in partnership with other organisations, and have demonstrable experience of successfully gaining advocacy to optimise outcomes.

Culturally, this post is at the centre of communicating who we are, what we stand for, and our values. You will take a leading role in helping us to be seen as an organisation that truly represents all of our communities; from the way we recruit to ensuring we have a meaningful dialogue with all those we serve.

As a modern organisation that serves over million people with differing views and needs, we need to be one step ahead of communications trends and take a sophisticated approach to reaching our target audiences with dynamic and engaging content that resonates with hearts and minds. A natural innovator you will have a track record of using your knowledge, research and insight to use the right channel at the right time to drive behavioural change and achieve organisational priorities. You will also be able to demonstrate your application of best practice when it comes to evaluation.

As this is a senior management role, you will be adept at linking strategy and operational delivery. You will also be a collaborative leader, adept at motivating, inspiring and working with others across multi-functional teams.

Finally, you will have a strong commitment to supporting the vital role policing plays in our communities - preventing, responding to and detecting crime, protecting our communities, and demonstrating that we understand and deal with the things that matter to local people. You will be highlighting the great work we do to increase public trust and confidence, and improving the ability of our officers and staff to do the jobs they care passionately about.
