Role Purpose:

The main purpose of this role is to provide support to some offenders managed by the MOSOVO
team. A full risk assessment will be carried out before any interaction between the offender and
the volunteer takes place.

Some of the tasks you will be involved with include:
Arranging meetings with isolated offenders in order to get them out of their property and
reduce thoughts of offending.
Assisting offenders who struggle with paperwork.
Mentoring offenders who may need help when attending appointments.
Occasionally representing offenders at appointments.

What skills you need:

What training and support you will receive:
 Good communication skills, written and oral.
 Ability to work unsupervised.
 Ability to work as part of a team.
 Good IT skills – Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
 Good organisational skills.

You will take part in an induction to help you understand your role and how the force works,
along with training on how to use specialist databases and IT systems.
We have Lead Volunteers on each of our 8 neighbourhood Policing Areas (NPA’s). Part of their
role is to support volunteers, so they will be able to assist you with any problems or questions
you may have throughout your time as a Police Support Volunteer with Leicestershire Police.

How much time?

This is a flexible role and hours (in amount and when) are subject to local agreement.
