The East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU) is recognised nationally for leading the way in collaborative working.  It now has nearly 1500 people working across Counter-Terrorism, Serious and Organised Crime, Major Crime, Forensics, Legal Services and our Regional Review Unit.

We are now looking for an experienced senior officer who will lead our teams in dealing with the many and complex challenges in these areas of policing.  You will be pivotal in delivering change and facilitating a culture of inclusiveness and empowerment at all levels.

You will be able to evidence a depth of experience in strategic command of critical incidents as well as a breadth of operational experience and experience of leading complex enquiries.  You will be an effective leader, leading by personal example and will demonstrate both drive and resilience to manage the complex and competing demands of working across five police forces and a large geographical area.

This opportunity is open to substantive Assistant Chief Constables or Superintendents or Chief Superintendents who have successfully completed the Strategic Command Course or Executive Leadership Programme, or be a current participant on the Executive Leadership Programme.

Applications should be submitted via the E-Recruitment Portal.

The closing date is Monday 1st April 2024 at 23:55.  Interviews will be held on Thursday 18th April 2024 at Derbyshire Constabulary Headquarters.

We welcome applications from individuals from all backgrounds and encourage anyone who has considered a career in policing to apply. We are particularly keen to increase the number of females and candidates from black and minority ethnic communities and candidates from the LGBT community, so that we can truly reflect the communities that we serve in.
