Preventing and detecting crime, providing reassurance to victims and witnesses, and generally making our communities safer is the priority of Derbyshire Constabulary. We welcome Volunteers to help and support our communities.

As a Youth Engagement Volunteer you will be part of a team attending secondary schools delivering and promoting child safeguarding and anti-bullying messages.

What does this activity involve?

• Delivering anti-bullying messages in a variety of formats to secondary age school children, within the school setting.
• Provide support in the preparation and taking part in child safeguarding initiatives across the Chesterfield area, collating information and materials.
• Working collaboratively with police officers and staff to support local priorities
• Working collaboratively with secondary schools to deliver crime prevention messages
• Admin tasks associated with youth offending
• Using IT applications such as Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word to write letters, leaflets and reports.

Skills Required:

The ability to speak to people face to face and over the telephone in a professional and confident manner is required. You should have good organisational skills and basic IT skills, but will receive training on any systems required.

Note: Training will be provided as part of this role.

Location: Newbold Police Station

Core Hours: Daytimes.
