Come and be a part of a diverse, innovative and forward-thinking team; Counter Terrorism Policing East Midlands (CTPEM) are looking to recruit an Open Source Internet Intelligence Investigator on a full-time 37 hours per week, permanent basis.

CTPEM is part of the East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU), one of the largest collaborative policing units in the country, delivering specialist capabilities on behalf of the five East Midlands police forces and comprises officers and police staff, providing a wide range of specialist crime services as part of EMSOU. We tackle threats posed by terrorism and extremism as an integral element of the National CTP Network.

Overview of the role

Using your experience of conducting online enquiries and research, you will carry out digital media investigations to provide internet intelligence which complies and supports the strategic and tactical aims and objectives of the Counter Terrorism department.

Using your data collection and research skills, you will analyse multiple datasets and formulate logical conclusions, providing professional direction as part of a team dedicated to all four aspects of the CONTEST Counter- Terrorism strategy.

You will be required to maintain an up-to-date understanding of internet-based technology and emerging trends relating to covert user techniques, social media and mobile applications, as well as remaining compliant with relevant police legislation and policies, including Management of Police Information, Freedom of Information Act, Data Protection Act and the Official Secrets Act.

High levels of discretion and confidentiality will be essential in this role, as you will have access to information that is sensitive on a regional and national basis.

Security Requirements

This post requires regular access to sensitive material and applicants must hold or be prepared to undergo enhanced security clearance before taking up the post.

The material may be of particular sensitivity to the UK, and may as a consequence be restricted to UK nationals. In approved circumstances, dual nationals (of which one element is British) may be granted access.

However, in the event that potential conflicts of interest cannot be managed, the post holder will not be permitted access the systems or material required for the role and will not therefore be able to perform their duties.

For the purposes of safeguarding national security, applicants who do not hold or achieve the required levels of security clearance requirements cannot be offered the post.

Due to vetting requirements, you must have a minimum of 5 years continuous UK residency to be eligible to apply and be able to obtain DV clearance prior to joining.

Please note that although this post has a central location within the Region, you must be flexible and hold a full UK driving licence, as you may be required to work at various locations both regionally and nationally, dependant on operational necessity.
