Derbyshire Constabulary are looking to appoint a proactive Strategic Head of Communications and Engagement to work closely with the Chief Constable.

The successful applicant will have strategic responsibility for the development and execution of both the internal and external communications and engagement strategy for Derbyshire Constabulary.

As the Head of Communications and Engagement you will have direct line management responsibility for the Derbyshire Constabulary Communication and Engagement team and work closely with the communications team in Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service.

The role will require you to encourage a culture of improvement in innovation whilst maintaining effective performance and high standards of service to the public.

The successful candidate will hold a degree level qualification or industry specific qualification at or above CIM diploma in marketing. You must have substantial leadership experience in a communications environment alongside line managing teams and the people within them at a personal level. The role requires you to proactively manage relationships with the media and have a strong understanding of digital platforms and social media channels. With excellent oral, written and presentation skills, you will have the ability to negotiate and influence others to achieve a common goal.

It is essential for the successful candidate to hold a full UK driving licence as travel is required both regionally and nationally for the role. It is desirable for the successful candidate to have experience in a policing/fire services environment.
