Do you want to be part of a new regional proactive team that is being set-up to fight Economic Crime?

The new Proactive Economic Crime Team (PECT) will be working together with the regional forces, other ROCUs and City of London Police focusing on proactive action against organised fraud and economic crime.

As the Financial Investigator you will play a key role in this team and will need to be an experienced practitioner and be able to conduct Proceeds of Crime Act investigations in respect of Parts 2, 5 and 8 powers, professionally, and expeditiously in accordance with legislative requirements. You will play a vital role within the team, acting as a trusted source of advice and information on financial investigation matters to the PECT, EMSOU and partner agencies.

Working within a large team you’ll be utilising covert tactics and proactively develop financial intelligence, gather evidence, investigate, and prosecute offenders who are committing fraud offences.

The new team will consist of 2 DSs, 6 DC’s, 6 FI’s, 2 disclosure & exhibit officers, a Regional Fraud Development Officer (PS/DS), 2 PROTECT officers, an admin officer, and a forensic accountant. The team will develop intelligence and have access to numerous tactics from across the EMSOU family including covert imagery, surveillance, dark web, cyber and Undercover Online to name but a few. The PECT will not focus on long running complex fraud.

The new team will have a physical base in East Midland forces. However, EMSOU supports principles of agile working, and encourages officers from any force or location to apply for positions, regardless of where the main base for the team is.
