If so, come and join our team as a Payroll Administrator. We have two positions available one on a full time, permanent basis and one on a full time 12-month fixed term contract, with the potential of the role going permanent in the future.

Your role will ensure that the payroll process for all police officers and police staff is carried out accurately and on time, for both Leicestershire Police and Derbyshire Constabulary.

As the Payroll Administrator, you will maintain an up to date working knowledge of relevant statutory legislation and develop expertise in operating our payroll system, as well as working to established procedures and routines to calculate and check our payrolls. You be able to practically apply Police Regulations, Police Staff Terms and Conditions, Force Policies and local agreements in relation to pay and allowances, developing an in-depth understanding of the two different pay processes for each force, alongside the Local Government Pension schemes.

You will be in involved in the administration and processing at all stages of employment for our Police Officers and Police Staff; dealing with payroll queries and tasks related to new appointments, transfers, leavers, promotions, deductions, pension fund contributions and other voluntary, involuntary and statutory deductions and payments including absences relating to sickness, maternity leave and unpaid leave.

To be successful in this role, you will hold or be willing to attain the IPPM Practitioner Certificate in Payroll Administration, IPPM Diploma in Payroll Management or an equivalent qualification, or have equivalent experience.

Your previous experience of working in a Payroll or Finance environment will have equipped you with knowledge of current statutory regulations and how they apply to your role. You will have a high level of attention to detail and will be capable of inputting large volumes of data quickly and accurately, as well as carrying out detailed and sometimes, complex calculations. You will be a great communicator and committed to providing a high-quality customer service within role to individuals and departments, seeking to actively improve our working practices and service delivery.
