Derbyshire Constabulary are looking for a Health & Safety Advisor to join the team, to support all areas of Health and Safety for the force.

This role is being offered to candidates from all levels of experience and qualification, so if you are new to H&S and looking for a step in the right direction, we can offer training and support to get you the experience and qualifications you need, or if you’re an experienced H&S Advisor looking for a new challenge, we can offer you the challenge you’re looking for as well as supporting you to develop further.

As a team we deal with everything from the development of training packages, attending training events as well as investigating near misses and identifying improvements. We also work on some very unique projects with departments such as the dog section, roads policing and call handlers.

What you’ll be doing

  • Promoting the Derbyshire Constabulary Health and Safety policy to create a positive culture where all staff have a clear understanding of their health and safety duties and responsibilities
  • Working with the Deputy Head of Health and Safety to advise, plan and deliver training sessions and work with department leads to maintain standards and consistency
  • You’ll be researching and preparing reports for the relevant boards to enable decisions to be made
  • You will be working on some unique projects ensuring that innovative approaches and solutions allow work to be carried out in a safe way while still achieving the policing purpose

  • You must have the ability to take a pragmatic approach with problem solving
  • Be able to influence people in a positive direction
  • Have experience of managing your own workload, having good attention to detail and a methodical approach to tasks

Salary £24,462 - £43,098, This is a career grade progression scheme, starting salary will be based on relevant experience and current qualifications.

For part time hours the salary will be calculated on a pro-rata basis, this is based on the number of hours for the vacancy.
