Are you a compassionate, understanding individual able to offer reassurance when dealing with stressed or vulnerable people?

Are you confident in providing advice and guidance on a one to one basis?

Do you have experience of working in a confidential and sensitive environment?

If so, Leicestershire Police are looking to recruit three Out of Hours Crisis Workers. This part-time opportunity would be working 8 hours per month and on call at the Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) Juniper Lodge,  delivering a service that supports victims of rape and sexual assault on behalf of the Strategic Partnership Board. This is a unique role, working alongside a forensic medical team. Flexibility and the requirement to use your own vehicle to attend the SARC within 45 minutes of being called out will be required around covering the shifts, as you will form part of an established Crisis Worker team.

Key Responsibilities

  • At the SARC you will deal with face to face, telephone and e-mail enquiries from the public and other agencies.
  • You will also be responsible to escalate direct referrals that require a police response and provide information to partner agencies.
  • To work 8 hours per month on a rota basis, there is also a voluntary option to work an ‘on- call’ 365 day rotating out of hours shift pattern.

The must haves

  • Educated to GCSE Grade C/4 minimum in English Language or have working experience to this level and have experience using Microsoft packages, to include Office, Excel and Power Point.
  • To have worked collaboratively with other statutory and voluntary agencies.
  • Experience of providing advice and guidance on a one to one basis and/or a group.
  • Be able to show compassion, understanding and reassurance when dealing with stressed and/or vulnerable people.
  • You must be willing to provide a sample of DNA to be used on a staff elimination database.

Salary: £24,921-£27,351 plus on call and mileage allowances: for part time hours the salary will be calculated on a pro-rata basis, this is based on the number of hours for the vacancy.
