An opportunity has arisen in Leicestershire’s Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner’s Office and the Violence Reduction Network (VRN).

We are looking for a passionate and experienced professional to lead our work on becoming a trauma-informed area across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland (LLR), on full time, 12-month fixed term contract basis (with possibility of extension).

The programme will be driven by an area wide Leadership Group consisting of key individuals from each partner agency with the support of an internationally renowned expert on the subject. This programme will report directly into the Strategic Partnership Board and its Executive body, which consists of all the Chief Executives of the major agencies across LLR.

You will use your knowledge and experience of working with childhood trauma to work on behalf of the Strategic Partnership Board and the Violence Reduction Network to develop a project plan, delivering a trauma-informed strategy and plan. You will be required to co-ordinate and oversee the work of the Leadership Group and the contribution of the international expert, as well as produce key documents and deliver key activity.

Similar initiatives have been established in other parts of the world and in other settings in the UK, but this is a ground-breaking new endeavour for LLR. More information on the work of the VRN can be found on our website https://www.violencereductionnetwork.co.uk/

To be successful in this role, you will be educated to degree level and have knowledge of childhood trauma, including its impact across the life course and trauma informed practice. You will have extensive professional experience of working in relevant arenas at a strategic and operational level, such as education, early help, youth work and/or children’s social care, health and criminal justice and have experience of delivering projects in a multi-agency setting.

This is initially a 12-month fixed term post from the date of appointment and will be reviewed after 6 months, as it is anticipated that the programme will be longer.

Secondments are possible for applicants from external partnership organisations, providing you have sought approval from your employer to apply and they are willing/able to second for the contract duration. In this case, your terms and conditions will remain the same.

As this role is within the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, appointments will be conditional on vetting clearance.

Please also contact Grace Strong via grace.strong@leics.pcc.pnn.gov.uk or Paul Hindson Paul.Hindson@leicestershire.pnn.police.uk if you would like an informal discussion about the role.

Interviews are provisionally set to take place in May (dates to be confirmed).

Closing date: 21st May 2021 at 23:55pm
