Our volunteers perform a wide range of roles and tasks across the organisation that support our policing purpose to prevent and reduce crime, attack criminality, protect vulnerable people and provide reassurance.

We are looking for an enthusiastic team member who is willing to attend events to promote cycle security in the city. We will actively encourage you to be involved in developing new ideas and ways to go about reducing cycle crime. The aim of the scheme is to reduce cycle theft and to encourage confidence among cyclists and show that cycling in Derby is a safe and viable option.

What does this activity involve?
•Help to reduce cycle crime and to be creative in how to advertise, expand and promote the schemeMaintaining inventories for vehicle equipment and completing the inventory form. Cleaning and carrying out minor checks on police vehicles.
•You will be taught to properly mark and search for stolen bikes on the BikeRegister.com national registration website and other sites to assist in active crime investigations
•We intend to involve you in all aspects of project planning and as such enable you to gain transferable skills in all aspects of corporate project work

Skills Required

You should have basic IT skills, including Word & Excel knowledge, have a good understanding of social media, and knowledge of cycling would be desirable. Enthusiasm and self-drive are desired and we want to encourage a sense of ownership over the project – this will enable you to develop your own ideas.

What training and support will you receive?

You will take part in an induction to help you understand your role and how the Derbyshire Police operates. When you start you will receive basic training on how to use our IT systems.

How much time?

As much or as little as you can spare! Some volunteers give a few hours a month, some a day a week and some give much more than that. It’s up to you and we will discuss this with you as part of the application process.
