Are you experienced in effectively leading and managing a strategic and financial service within a large complex, and diverse organisation? If so, Derbyshire Constabulary’s Chief Finance Officer would welcome your application to join the finance services team in a pivotal role of Head of Finance on a full time, permanent basis.  

Derbyshire Constabulary spends in excess of £250m of public money annually, therefore, to help the force in achieving its financial business plans this role will be integral in helping to provide strong financial leadership and support us continue to ensure high levels of service delivery. As Deputy S151 Officer you will be responsible for leading the Strategic Finance and Financial Services team of around 20 full time equivalents. Reporting into the Chief Finance Officer, you will be overseeing the Constabulary’s finances providing regular budgetary information, finance business partnering support to senior managers and the wider Senior Leadership Team.  

 You will be managing a strategic and financial service ensuring your leadership generates high performance, continuous improvement and a customer focused approach, making certain all staff are trained, informed, managed, and motivated to deliver a high quality and cost-effective service.  

We are looking for an ambitious CCAB qualified finance professional with significant management experience that can lead with confidence and integrity to deliver a modern and effective Finance function. With proven success in developing effective working relationships and partnerships, you will have strong, influential communication skills to effectively liaise with internal, external stakeholders and agencies, and have knowledge and understanding of managing public finances.
