The East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU) is looking to appoint a Administrative/Text Processing Operator on a part-time basis, based at St Mary's Wharf in Derby to provide specialised solutions and capabilities to the East Midlands Special Operations Unit which investigates Major Crime within the five forces in the East Midlands region (Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire).

What you’ll be doing

  • Producing detailed and accurate transcripts from suspect and video recorded witness interviews and other recorded audio/video material.
  • Maintaining and operating manual and computer record systems extracting information as necessary to provide accurate information to comply with requests and meet deadlines.
  •  Arranging and attending meetings to take notes, to transcribe notes and distribute, thereby ensuring that an appropriate record of the meeting has been taken.

The must haves

  • Educated to GCSE min. Grade C/4 in English Language and Maths or equivalent and/or have experience of working in a post that requires the use of English Language and Maths to that standard.
  • Hold a RSA 2 Typing/Word Processing or equivalent or have experience of working to that standard.
  • Experience of working in a clerical environment where attention to detail has been a critical factor.

Salary: - £22,671 - £27,351

Due to the nature of the work we do there may be a requirement to return to duty or work outside of usual hours to meet deadlines and respond to Major Incidents. Overtime will be paid at the appropriate rate.

For part time hours the salary will be calculated on a pro-rata basis, this is based on the number of hours for the vacancy.
