You’ve seen the TV shows, now it’s time to see if you are up to the challenge?!

We’re looking for hard working, motivated, team-players to join Derbyshire Constabulary as Custody Detention Officers (CDO’s).

Our role is not without its challenges. We work long, sometimes difficult shifts, for which an additional 20% shift allowance & weekend working allowances are paid in addition to the above salary. This could equate to an additional £6,000 - £10,000 per annum.

Being a CDO is incredibly important – you’ll at times need to be ready for volatile situations, with our visitors sometimes being hostile, under-the-influence and angry – keeping calm, remembering your training and looking out for your colleagues is an essential skill in this role. In addition to that we sometimes have visitors who need your compassion, empathy and maybe just someone to talk to. You’ll be responsible for booking in, dealing with & looking after people, sometimes at their most vulnerable.

Each day is different, with some situations and incidents arising that cannot be predicted, and you’ll need to be ready for anything…are you ready?

By joining Derbyshire Constabulary you'll be joining an inclusive & supportive organisation, that offers a wide range of benefits including our sports club & gym facilities, wellbeing and occupational health services and free parking across most locations. Find out more about what we can offer here - What we can offer you :: Derbyshire Constabulary Jobs

If you feel you have these skills, and a genuine desire to be an integral part of the Criminal Justice system, then we’d love to hear from you.

Important Dates for your Diary:

Closing Date: Sunday 11th December 2022
Assessment Date: Saturday 17th December (am)
Training Course Dates: 20th February 2023 - 24th March 2023 (Additional training courses are being ran throughout the year and we'll keep a 'select list' of successful applicants for future vacancies throughout the year.)
(Please note, attendance to the training course in full is mandatory.)

Due to the nature of the role, if you are successful at shortlisting, you’ll be invited to one of our Assessment days where we’ll test your skills and suitability for becoming a CDO.

If you have any questions about the role or the recruitment process please don’t hesitate to contact Claire Philbin, Recruitment Team on 0300 122 8900 or recruitment@derbyshire.police.uk
