An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Information Services Department as a Digital Workplace & Mobility Engineer. The role is full-time, permanent, and based at Force Headquarters.

 The Digital Workplace and Mobility team is responsible for but not limited to the support of Cloud based Services (SaaS), End User devices, Client Operating Systems, Email clients, Unified Communications clients, Virtual and rich client software applications, Mobile technologies and Software asset management.

 The team resolves complex issues and provides installations, moves, additions, changes and de- installations. Ensures user satisfaction by providing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and quickly resolving problems

The team focuses on managing mobile devices and PCs in an innovative way that enables the force and eases the burden on IS — including services for Windows 10, Enterprise Mobility Management, cloud and virtualized desktop applications

 Key Accountabilities

  • The post holder is responsible for dealing with all types of IS Support issues in the Digital Workplace & Mobility (DW&M) arena: Cloud, Virtual and desktop applications, Desktop PCs, Laptops, IP Telephony, Mobile devices including EMM configuration and mobile application
  •  To undertake installations, moves and changes of force IT equipment as required in accordance with departmental procedures throughout the force involving manual handling.
  • Adhere to standards of force mobile devices strategy and related Share in settings EMM, MDM strategy. EMM (MDM) system maintaining. Cooperation on development, implementation, and distribution of mobile applications and content (MAM, MCM). Systemic problems solutions with the supplier of EMM systems, external services, operators or mobile phones and tablets manufacturers.
  • Ensure that Incidents, Problems, Changes and Requests are handled to agreed procedures. Provide IT support to all areas of the Force by providing technical advice and guidance to all levels of users in the organisation.

 The must haves

  • Experience of building desktop computers, including installing components such as hard drives and RAM, including experience of imaging laptops and desktops using technologies such as Microsoft SCCM or Intune.
  •  Experience of installing IT Desktop Hardware, including Desktops, Laptops, Docking Stations, Monitors and phones.
  •  Understanding of Android mobile operating systems and some experience supporting mobile devices such as smart phones and tablets.
  • Experience in supporting and troubleshooting of Microsoft products, including Windows 10 Operating Systems and Office 2019 and 365.

Salary £29,085 - £39,036

A career progression scheme applies to this post, details of the career grade scheme will be issued by the department

For part time hours the salary will be calculated on a pro-rata basis, this is based on the number of hours for the vacancy.
