Derbyshire Constabulary has an exciting opportunity for constables, who are existing authorised firearms officers, trained to meet the Armed Response Unit Constable role profile, to transfer to Derbyshire.

About the unit
The Armed Response Unit provides the central armed response for the county, whilst the Firearms Support Unit provides all firearms training and tactical advice for the force.
The Armed Response Unit is an evolving group of professional officers who are highly trained and motivated. The teams have access to the most up-to-date equipment and training to ensure they can carry out their role, and also receive support and development within the unit. They have exposure to a state-of-the-art firing range which was completed in December 2017.
The unit is currently working a four-on, four-off 12 hour shift pattern. There will be the opportunity for candidates to discuss their possible transfer to Derbyshire, in order to answer any queries they may have.
This is a challenging role that requires the successful candidates to demonstrate:
• A proven ability to undertake all duties outlined in the national Armed Response Unit Constable (shooting and tactics) role profile.

• Candidates must be able to produce a training record endorsed by their chief firearms instructor.

About the county

Derbyshire is a predominantly rural area which includes large parts of the Peak District National Park, offering opportunities for an outdoor lifestyle and an enhanced quality of life.

However, we also have vibrant urban centres in the city of Derby and the town of Chesterfield and our central location, with excellent transport links and trains taking you to London in 90 minutes, suits those who also enjoy the city life or like to escape and travel on their rest days.

Derbyshire Constabulary has recently been assessed as “good” across all areas by HMIC, with our report stating: “the force provides a good service in identifying and responding to the needs of vulnerable people, including victims of domestic abuse. It continues to improve the quality of crime investigations. I have been particularly impressed by the force’s outstanding work on disrupting the activity of organised crime groups.”
