We're looking for experienced serving police constables who have a passion for serving the communities of Derbyshire. Our key purpose is to ‘Make Derbyshire Safer Together.’ To achieve this, we follow a set of principles that play an important role in our daily lives:

• Do the right thing
• Making a difference
• Shaping the future.

Join us and you’ll find they become instinctive, influencing how you work, your decisions and choices, and how you relate to the people around you.

Derbyshire is a predominantly rural area which includes large parts of the Peak District National Park, offering opportunities for an outdoor lifestyle and an enhanced quality of life. However, we also have vibrant urban centres in the city of Derby and town of Chesterfield and our central location, with excellent transport links and trains taking you to London in 90 minutes, suits those who also enjoy the city life or like to escape and travel on their rest days.

To reflect the communities we serve, we take a range of positive action measures when we’re recruiting. These aim to take away or reduce barriers that some cultural groups face when they look to work for us. We also support a number of staff support networks for people who are already part of the policing family.
Join us and you’ll need to promote equality and diversity in all you do, every day. And you’ll find our flexible policies and practices meet your individual needs, while supporting our values and ethos.

To deliver excellent service, we’re dedicated to maximising your unique potential. So, we’re developing our plans for cultural change, based on our principles of doing the right thing, making a difference and shaping the future. The aim is to build a positive workplace that supports each individual to reach their full potential and invests in our leaders at every level.

Applicants must:
• have passed their probationary period
• have a full driving licence
• be able to pass the necessary vetting and occupational health checks;
• be able to pass the basic fitness test - shuttle run (bleep test) to level 5.4
• have no outstanding discipline or integrity issues

For this vacancy we are only able to accept applications from currently serving officers wishing to transfer and not applicants with previous police service who wish to re-join. Applicants from British Transport Police may apply but their application will be reviewed at the shortlisting stage before a decision is made.

The Recruitment Process
Stage 1: Your application – you will need to provide evidence of why you wish to transfer to Derbyshire Constabulary and what challenges do you think you will encounter.

Stage 2: Interview – this will be with two senior officers who will be assessing you against the personal qualities required for a Constable, and also your commitment to Derbyshire Constabulary and the challenges that we face as a County (details of whether this will be conducted in person or online will be confirmed closer to the time).

Stage 3: Pre–employment checks – If you are successful at the interview you will be invited in for a medical and fitness test. If you pass both the medical and fitness test we will also carry out vetting checks and contact your current force HR department and line manager for employment references.

Stage 4: Final Offer – If all of the above checks are met satisfactorily, we will write to you offering you a position with Derbyshire Constabulary.

Please do not serve your notice to your current force until you have received your final offer letter in writing.

Please note that the three-week induction will need to be completed on a full-time basis.

This campaign is to fill a November 2022 cohort.

Please check the https://careers.derbyshire.police.uk/what-you-could-be-doing/police-officers/transferees#latest for more information about the force.
